Praesidia moderator covers have been designed for use on bolt-action rifles, they have been rigorously tested to withstand normal competition and casual range conditions they are not designed for, or intended for prolonged rapid fire where excess heat is allowed to build up in a short period of time.

When using night vision or thermal in the field the moderator cover can help contain heat to reduce mirage and distortion in the scope.
